Artwork Setup Guide

It’s always best to supply us with artwork to our guideline specifications. It not only makes everything easier and quicker, but it also means you won’t incur any extra charges.
Your Order
Always provide a written order, clearly stating your requirements with reference to any quote number that you’ve been given. It’s also best to include a proof (inkjet or laser, or a PDF with embedded fonts) for us to check against - without it, we’re unable to accept responsibility for missing fonts, pictures, or other variations.
What Software should you use?
Most designers use Quark Xpress or Adobe InDesign software. We’d prefer to receive your files (created on either a PC or Mac) as high resolution PDF's, set with 3mm bleed and crop marks. All fonts and images should be embedded.
Freehand, Illustrator or CorelDraw files can be accepted if saved in PDF or .EPS format. Please ring for details of other file formats.
If at all possibly, try to avoid creating your files with Publisher, Word or PowerPoint. The software is not designed for use in a commercial print environment and their inbuilt art library is low resolution and never prints well.
Accepted Media
We can accept files via email or saved onto CD, DVD, various flash memory cards or standard floppy disk. Large files can be transfered via our file transfer system - HERE.
Pictures
Photographic images should be supplied as 300dpi CMYK .TIF files with LZW off, and placed into your document at 100%. Any images with clipping paths should be saved as EPS - NB avoid Quark clipping paths as they can cause unpredictable results.
Colours
All colours in your document must be specified as CMYK. All spot colours in your design process you must be converted to CMYK. (Includes imported .EPS graphics from Illustrator and Freehand as well as duotone images).
